USS Forrestal Museum, Inc.  Project News Update
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Approved for Release by the Board of Directors, USS Forrestal Museum, Inc. on May 20, 1998

BOARD OF DIRECTORS  APPOINTS TWO NEW MEMBERS

The Board of Directors of the USS Forrestal Museum is proud to announce the appointment of Capt. Tim Thomassey USN(Ret) and SFSC Milt Crutchley USN(Ret) as Directors.

Capt. Thomassey, a former Commanding Officer of the USS Forrestal joins board member Admiral John Beling who also shares that distinction.  Holding a senior executive level position with the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry-dock Company, Captain Thomassey gives greater strength to the board with his unique insights.

Chief Crutchley, also a member of Forrestal's alumni, was on board during the devastating fire on 29 July 67.  His background is in Project Management with AT&T along with being one great "ol'salt".  He becomes the fifth member of the crew from Forrestal's Vietnam Cruise who now serve as board members.

ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY STUDY DUE!!!
FIRST DRAFT BY ELLIN & TUCKER REVIEWED

Recently, the Board of Directors met with the distinguished accounting firm of Ellin & Tucker to review the first draft of the so important economic study proving the viability of an aircraft carrier museum in the Baltimore area.  To say the least, with a "worst case scenario" proposed, the project is still VERY ACHIEVABLE.

We are now refining the numbers, encompassing other financial scenarios, and working our way to the final product.  Once the study is completed, we will be able to apply for the necessary grants, bond issues, and bank financing to finish the project.

As a matter of note, we have already received substantial funds from various sources.  Veterans groups in Maryland have been a major asset.  But the real surprises have been quite a few overseas contributors; especially one in Ireland, one in Mexico and one in Argentina!  They really liked our medallions. THANKS TO ALL who have made donations to this worthy effort.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!  There's still a long way to go.

MEDALLION DONATIONS UP!!!
NUMBER OF "SETS" DONATIONS ARE UP!!!

A limited edition of Forrestal "sets" are still available. These sets are truly unique with matching numbers being applied to ONLY THE FIRST THOUSAND SETS.

Produced by the Franklin Mint, these initial offerings will truly appreciate in value in light of their limited number.  For a small investment of $160.00, you can actually own a "piece of the ship" since every Medallion contains elements of Forrestal's brass.

If  you're interested in more information about the project, want to help with a donation, or want to get involved in other ways you can do it right through our web site.  Visit us at http://www.forrestal.org for more details.
