When placing an order via any Web site you should be sure that yourr browser indicates that the connection is secure. Most browsers that accept secure connections provide an indicator, usually on the bottom of the browser's window or status bar, that is activated when a secure connection is in effect.
Some browsers show a small picture (icon) of a lock in the locked position to indicate a secure connection, or an open lock when there is a regular, un-secure connection. Other browsers may show a broken key when in a regular connection and a non-broken key when in a secure connection.
While you are selecting your thank you gifts there is no need for a secure connection. When you checkout and begin to enter your personal information and credit card or check payment information we will switch to a secure server. Watch for the closed lock or non-broken key signal from your browser to verify the secure connection.
Any information you send will be encrypted and secure. It is actually safer than giving your credit card or check information over the telephone or to a store clerk.
Access to the information you send requires a valid password issued only to staff members of the USS Forrestal Museum, Inc. who process donations.
